Cal.com in Roma
Read your bookings, then book, move or cancel one after a card.
Connect Cal.com and your operator can read your bookings, your event types and your free slots, and book, confirm, decline, reschedule or cancel a booking when you ask. Every one of those writes emails the other person at once, so each shows you a card first. The one thing it refuses is changing your availability, because Cal.com would replace your whole weekly pattern.
What the operator reads
Sam asks "What do I have booked this week?" and the operator lists his bookings from Cal.com, and "Who is my 3 pm with?" reads that booking's details. "What slots do I have on Thursday?" reads the free slots from Cal.com itself rather than guessing from the bookings. It can also list your event types, the kinds of meeting your booking page offers, with their lengths and rules, and your schedules, the working hours each one keeps. It reads your own bookings only, never a team's.
Booking, moving and cancelling
"Book a 30-minute intro with noor@example.com on Thursday" picks the matching event type, finds the slot and shows a card with the booking. On your yes, Roma creates it and Cal.com emails Noor the invitation, the way it would for a booking made on your page. A request waiting for your confirmation can be confirmed or declined, with a reason, the same way. "Move my Thursday with Noor to Friday at 10" is a reschedule: the card shows the booking, and the other person is told. "Cancel my 3 pm" cancels that one booking, after a card, and the other person gets the cancellation. There is no draft and no undo in Cal.com: once the card is approved, the mail is on its way. The card itself is described in Approvals.
What it refuses
"I'm away next week" is a thing the operator cannot do in Cal.com, and it says so rather than trying. Cal.com's way of updating a schedule replaces the whole weekly pattern and every override in one write, so adding one holiday would wipe your working hours and report success. Set time off in Cal.com itself.
Two more are refused on purpose. A booking is never moved silently: the only way to change a time is the reschedule, which tells the other person. And a cancellation is one booking at a time: "cancel my weekly 3 pm" cancels one occurrence, and ending a recurring series is done in Cal.com.
Cal.com beside Google Calendar
Cal.com is where other people book you, by the rules you set there. Google Calendar is your own calendar, where the operator sees what is already booked before it suggests a time and puts a task on the calendar when you ask. Blocking an afternoon for yourself is a Google Calendar ask. Taking a booking from someone else is a Cal.com one.
How to connect
Open Settings → Connections and press Cal.com. Sign in with Cal.com in the window that opens, allow what it lists, and close the page when it says Connected. The row carries a green check, and its page shows three permission groups: Reading, always allowed, and Sending and Deleting, which ask first unless you set them to Always allow. Sending covers a new booking, a confirmation, a decline and a reschedule. Deleting is the cancel. The general steps are in Connect an app to Roma, and the public page is /connections/cal.
How to disconnect
Settings → Connections, press Cal.com, then Disconnect. Access ends at once. Your bookings stay as they are in Cal.com.
Questions people ask
Does the operator email people on its own?
No. Every booking write asks you first on a card. Cal.com sends the mail, as it does for a booking made on your page, once you approve.
Can it block time off or change my hours?
No. Changing availability is refused, because Cal.com replaces the whole weekly schedule rather than editing one day. Set time off in Cal.com, or block the hours on your Google Calendar through its connection.
Can it cancel a whole recurring series?
No. A cancel is one booking. End a series in Cal.com.
