Your agents: connect one and hand it tasks
Connect ChatGPT, Claude or Muse in Settings, then hand it tasks.
Settings → Agents is where you connect an AI you already use to Roma and, later, hand it tasks. Each agent is a tile. Its page shows the way in, and once the agent is connected the same page is the agent's own: its name, when it last read Roma, when Roma last reached it, and the message that tells it how to work in your lists. It lives in the browser and in the Mac app, under Settings.
Connect an agent
Open Settings → Agents. At the top sits one sentence to send any agent, with Copy beside it. Under it, Connected agents holds your agents as tiles and, beside them, the kinds you can add: ChatGPT, Claude, Muse, Instinct, Grok Bot and the rest. A tile opens the kind's page, with a switch at the top right between Details and Status. Details shows a picture of the agent at work, what you can do with it and what you will need. Status is the connection.
An app that signs in, ChatGPT or Claude, has no setup to start. Press Connect ChatGPT and Status opens with the steps to add Roma inside the app, under the line "Sign in once and ChatGPT appears here as one of your agents." Add Roma there, sign in with your Roma account in the browser, and the moment the app first calls Roma the record appears by itself and the page becomes the agent's own.
Muse, Instinct and Grok Bot connect from a message. Press Start setup and the next page has one message to send the agent. That message is the whole setup: it tells the agent, in your own words, that you use Roma for your tasks and where the ways to connect are explained. The agent connects, signs in with your Roma account in a browser, and tells you what it is doing.
From then on the agent reads and writes your Roma as you. A task you mention in a chat with it lands on your Tasks list. Ask it what is next and it answers from Roma. The agent's page says so in the row "ChatGPT can reach Roma", with the time of its last contact, and Roma says it in your main chat the first time an agent connects.
An agent that is not on the page connects too. The last card, Other agents, carries the same sentence. An agent you send it connects, takes Roma's skill and works in your Roma when you open it. What Roma cannot do with an agent it does not know is wake it, hand it tasks or talk to it from Roma.
When Roma can reach the agent
Connecting is the agent reaching Roma. The other direction, Roma reaching the agent, is what makes delegating possible, and it is set up on the same page. For a kind that has a door of its own, the page shows how Roma reaches it, and Roma tests the door once the setup is complete. The row "Roma can reach ChatGPT" reads Not reached yet until that test passes, and Last reached with the time after it. Roma says it in your main chat the first time, too.
The moment Roma has reached your first agent, the Delegate property appears on every list you own. Until then it stays hidden, so a list looks the same as before you connected anything. Show, hide and arrange properties covers the switch.
Hand an agent a task
Open a task and pick the agent in its Delegate field. Roma wakes the agent with the task. The agent works in the task's body, writes a message in the task's chat under its own name when something changes or when it needs you, and you reply there in one line. Delegate holds one agent: Operator, which is Roma's own first turn, or one of your agents Roma has reached. Remove delegate takes the task back and nothing fires. People are assigned in Assigned to and never delegated. What an agent can and cannot do in your account describes the work itself.
New tasks can go to an agent on their own. Settings → General → Tasks → Delegate new tasks to is your account's default, Operator from the start: every new list you make starts with it, and a list you already have keeps its own choice, set in List settings → Delegate new tasks to. Remove the delegate and new tasks stay quiet until someone mentions an agent. A shared list has no default delegate, so a teammate's new item never wakes your agent. Mention your agent on an item to bring it in. Create a list covers the list's rows.
In the chat on a task, @ the agent or press Reply on one of its messages to reach it directly. The main chat answers as your operator. The conversation on a task or note explains who answers where.
The agent's page
Once connected, the tile opens the agent's page, on Status. Setup shows the one sentence to send the agent, then two steps that tick by themselves: Step 1, the agent can read and write your Roma, and Step 2, Roma can reach the agent, each Done, In progress or Needs attention. Under them, Settings holds the nickname the agent posts under, the way Roma reaches it, and the two rows: "ChatGPT can reach Roma", with the time of its last contact, and "Roma can reach ChatGPT", with Last reached and a Test button beside it. Details, one press away on the same switch, is the picture and the two lists the kind's page had. Rename sits under More, beside Remove, and turns the title into a field.
Remove, at the top right, asks "Remove ChatGPT from Roma?". Roma stops waking the agent. An app that signed in is disconnected from Roma too, and comes back by connecting again from inside the app. Items delegated to it keep its name.
An agent that stops answering reads Not reached since, with the time. Test it again from its page, and when the row reads Signed out, send the agent the sentence again.
On your iPhone, Settings → Agents shows how to connect each agent. The agents' own pages, with their status and the Delegate field's rows, live in the browser and in the Mac app, and a task delegated there shows its delegate on the phone like any other property.
Questions people ask
Why is there no Delegate property on my lists?
Delegate stays hidden until Roma has reached your first agent through its door. Open Settings → Agents, pick the agent and finish its setup until the row "Roma can reach" it shows a time. Then Delegate appears on every list you own, hidden or shown like any property.
Can I hand a task to a teammate's agent?
No. Only your own agents, the ones on your Settings → Agents page, can be a task's delegate, and only on your word. On a shared list the Delegate field offers Operator and your own agents. A teammate delegates to theirs.
What is the difference between Assigned to and Delegate?
Assigned to is a person: who the task is for, a label the team reads, and setting it wakes nobody. Delegate is an agent: Operator or one of yours, and setting it hands the task over and wakes the agent. A task can carry both.
Does removing an agent delete what it did?
No. Everything the agent wrote stays in your lists, in the Log of each task and in version history. Remove on the agent's page under Settings → Agents stops Roma waking it, disconnects an app that signed in, and leaves its name on the items you delegated to it.
